Dumpster Rental for Estate Cleanouts: What Size Container Do You Need?

Estate cleanouts are an exhausting task, but hiring a dumpster rental makes this task quite easy. When you hire a rental dumpster, they ask for a particular container size, so you must understand what dumpster size you need.

It is not just about removing things at home; it is more about clearing your space and dumping the waste material the right way.

In this blog, let’s explore what dumpster size you need for estate cleanouts.

How Many Loads a Cleanout Can Produce

An estate cleanout can easily turn into a six- to eight-load job, sometimes six to ten loads, depending on the volume of stuff in the house. Below, you will learn about different dumpster sizes and then you can evaluate which one you need for an estate cleanout.

4 Yard Dumpster

Do You Need A Dumpster For An Estate Cleanout?

Cleaning out a garage as part of an estate can seem like a daunting task, especially when it’s been used as the family junk storage center. A small 4-yard dumpster is perfect for this type of project. Dumpster rentals allow you to take up to seven days to fill the dumpster with that unwanted material.

10 Yard Dumpster

Most of the time, this dumpster is rented for small renovations, bathrooms, and a lot of garage cleanouts, since people have junk that they want to purge, including estate cleanouts. This is a very popular size for those small projects.

15 Yard Dumpster

For an estate cleanout that’s a larger project, that’s when you’ll need to consider one of the larger options, such as a 15-yard dumpster. It isn’t the largest option available, but it has more than enough storage capacity for most home renovation and clear-out projects. If you’re doing a major estate clear-out and you have a large home, the 15-yard dumpster is a good choice.

These dumpsters are really good for single-room projects, a small bathroom renovation, or a small house cleanout, where you just need some trash to get rid of.

20 Yard Dumpster

An estate cleanout can be overwhelming, with a lot of debris and maybe even old furniture that needs to be disposed of. A 20-yard dumpster is a good choice for this type of task, also ideal for large renovation projects, major cleanouts of large homes, and home addition projects.

This is by far the most popular size for home projects and remodels, since it has a large enough capacity to haul a lot of material without taking up a bunch of space in your driveway.

The 20-yard dumpster gains about another five cubic yards over the 15-yard dumpster, roughly the size of another five washer and dryer units. This will be the most popular residential size dumpster for a home cleanout, whether small or big. Lots of house cleanouts go into 20 yards, and if you have an estate sale or estate, throwing away a bunch of stuff like furniture, the 20-yard is going to be the go-to size for that.

30 Yard Dumpster

Because they’re 18 feet, they can still very easily fit in a driveway, unlike a standard 22-foot-long dumpster that requires about 30 feet to get the gate open, which is really difficult to fit in a lot of driveways.

A 30-yard dumpster is also available at 22 feet long, about 6 feet tall, with tons of space for construction debris, new construction, remodels, and larger house cleanouts. It is the number one size dumpster for construction projects.

40 Yard Dumpster

For the biggest estate cleanouts, if you’ve got a hoarder situation, a lot of old items and furniture, or a really big project, these 40s are about as big as you can go. They are built at 20 feet long, a couple of feet shorter than a standard 22-foot-long 40, so they can still fit into some spots where standard-length boxes cannot go.

If you’ve got overhead wires, tree limbs, or other obstructions, you need to be careful when renting this dumpster because it is so large. This one is 20 feet by 8 feet, a little over 7 feet tall on the inside.

The 40-yard dumpster is also available at 22 feet long, 7 and a half feet wide, but a heck of a lot taller, about 7 and a half to 8 feet tall, 40 cubic yards. This is very popular for demos and big estate or construction projects as well.
